I’ve learned that sports photography is something you truly need to have a passion for. I have that passion. Right before I shoot a game, I get a rush of excitement because I’m not only doing something I thoroughly enjoy, but I get to be right there next to the action as it happens.
What excites me the most about sports photography is capturing the perfect moment that I may not even realize is happening until I see it in my studio after the game. It's an unreal feeling when you capture raw photos of emotions that a player expresses while playing their sport. That photo becomes a story itself and is archived for the player captured in the moment.
The story at times has an emotional twist where I am humbled when a young adult approaches with an image on a mobile phone of them scoring a goal years earlier as I hear a respectful “thank you for taking my picture back then”. Creating memories is my motivation for sports photography.
